After months of testing, both on the trail and at home, we wanted to update you on product we’ve fallen in love with – Litehouse Freeze-Dried Garlic. While we’ll be the first to admit that nothing is a substitute for fresh from the garden vegetables or herbs, these flavor packed granules of goodness are wonderful. It’s the perfect substitute when fresh garlic isn’t accessible.

Available in a 1.58 oz resealable glass jar, this freeze dried garlic is used as a just as regular garlic with a one to one ratio. One teaspoon of Litehouse equals one teaspoon of freshly chopped.  They also don’t need refrigeration after opening – something perfect for those of us on the go or traveling to parts unknown.

While we were skeptical at first, the Litehouse has proven itself time and time again over the long haul. After six plus months of use, the flavor is still strong and quite tasty. Last night we sauteed some edamame with a little bit of olive oil and the Litehouse Freeze-Dried Garlic. Our dinner guests loved the flavor and were shocked to learn after the fact that it was freeze dried.

Litehouse makes a variety of other freeze dried herbs as well: basil, chives, cilantro, dill, Italian herb blend, oregano, and parsley. Litehouse products are available for purchase in select grocery stores and online from their corporate store.

FYI: Try their basil. It is dynamite as well!
